Fair-use limits

Kommio Cloud is free for every team: no seat pricing, no plan tiers, every feature and every channel. Today no workspace is capped: the only limits enforced are the request rates and the file rules below. The reference levels are where we would talk to you, so one workspace cannot degrade the service for the others; they sit well above what a support team uses. Last updated 3 October 2026.

Enforced today

WhatLimitNote
Agents, administrators, inboxes and channelsUnlimitedNo seat pricing. Above 100 members we ask you to tell us so we can plan capacity.
Attachment size25 MB per fileExecutables are refused; images are served inline, everything else as a download.
API and widget requestsSee the API table belowRecover on their own within the minute.
Sign-up attempts5 an hour and 20 a day per network addressDisposable email domains are refused, to keep spam workspaces out.
Data retentionConversations kept as long as the workspace existsEvents, audit trail, notifications, visitor context, the chat sessions of signed-in visitors who never wrote (30 days by default) and files marked as identity documents follow the retention settings you choose, with floors for security data.

Reference levels per workspace

These are not enforced on Kommio Cloud today. They are the levels the product can apply per workspace, and the ones at which we would get in touch. If we ever switch them on, we will write to the administrators of every workspace near a level before it takes effect.

WhatReference levelNote
New conversations50,000 per monthInbound and outbound together.
Replies500,000 per monthMessages your team sends; what customers send never counts.
Outbound replies20,000 per dayEmail goes through your own mailbox (SMTP), so your provider's limits also apply.
Contacts1,000,000Merged contacts count once.
File storage20 GB per workspaceUploaded files and attachments together.
Webhook deliveries100,000 per dayRetried for a day; every attempt is in the ledger.
Apps and plugins25 installed appsHook calls time out at 5 seconds; failures never block you unless the app asked to be required.

Even at a level, only what your workspace starts would wait: customers' inbound messages, automations, bots and flows are never refused.

API

WhatLimit
Requests per API key600 per minute
Requests per workspace3,000 per minute
Unauthenticated endpoints (sign-in, widget, public)300 per minute per IP address

Requests above a limit get a 429 with Retry-After and X-RateLimit-* headers; nothing is dropped silently.

What happens when you reach a limit

  • Rate limits (the API table) apply immediately and recover on their own within the minute.
  • A reference level is a conversation, not a cut-off: we write to the workspace administrators first and agree a plan, which most of the time means raising the level for you.
  • Abusive use is the exception: unsolicited email, unlawful content, or attempts to reach other workspaces lead to suspension, as the terms describe.

Your data, always

You can export conversations, contacts and settings through the API at any time, and the self-hosted edition runs the same product on your own infrastructure when you prefer that. Questions about a limit go to [email protected].
