Support teams that run more than one brand usually end up with one of two bad setups: one shared tool where every brand’s customers, macros and reports are mixed together, or one tool per brand and a person who signs in and out of six of them all day. Kommio’s answer, as of 20 October 2026, is a workspace per brand and one list across them. Languages work the same way: each person works in their own language, and customers are answered in theirs.
One workspace per brand
A workspace in Kommio holds everything a brand needs on its own: its channels and inboxes (email, website chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, SMS, Slack and API inboxes), its contacts, its roles, its rules and macros, its help centers, its branding and its reports. Nothing in one workspace is visible from another; workspaces are separated by row-level security in the database, not only in the application.
That separation is what you want for brands: a customer of brand A is never a contact of brand B by accident, a macro written for one brand’s tone of voice is not offered in the other, and each brand’s reports count only its own conversations. Kommio Cloud is free with no seat pricing, so a person who works in five brands is not five paid seats.
Set it up
- Create a workspace per brand and invite the people who answer it, each with the role they need there. A person can be an Administrator in one brand and an Agent in another.
- Connect each brand’s channels in its own workspace: the brand’s support mailbox, its website chat, its WhatsApp number through the brand’s own Meta app, its Telegram bot. The channel pages list what each needs.
- Publish each brand’s look under Settings › Branding (below).
- Give each brand its help center in Knowledge, in the languages its customers read (below).
- Switch with the workspace switcher, or work from All brands.
The All brands inbox
Since 1 October 2026, anyone who belongs to two or more workspaces sees All brands in the app’s rail (g a on the keyboard, under More on a phone). It is the inbox table with the workspace in front of each row, across every workspace the person belongs to, newest activity first:
- filters for status (open, pending, all) and scope (everyone’s, mine, unassigned);
- each workspace’s open, unassigned and mine counts as chips;
j,kand Enter like the normal inbox list;- each row names its workspace, inbox and assignee, with the brand’s colour.
Each workspace is read with the person’s role and memberships there, and its rows are redacted by that workspace’s grants before the lists are merged. So someone who may see full phone numbers in one brand and masked ones in another sees exactly that, in the same list. Up to 20 memberships are read; the list refreshes every 30 seconds. Opening a row switches into that workspace and opens the conversation there, where you reply as usual.
Each brand’s look
Branding is set per workspace under Settings › Branding: brand colours with a light and a dark value per colour token, the font, the corner radius and four logo slots (a wordmark and a square mark, each with a dark-mode variant). It is edited as a draft, previewed in light and dark, and published as a version; History lists every version, and restoring one publishes a copy of it, so a rollback is one click and nothing is rewritten. The chat widget, the agent app, the help center and the survey page read only the published theme.
Inside one workspace, a website chat inbox can carry its own brand: under Install › Appearance › Brand it sets its own brand colour and its own logos, and empty fields inherit the workspace’s. That suits one company with two sites that share a team: two chats, two looks, one inbox list. A chat never mixes two brands’ logos; fonts, corners and surface colours always come from the workspace.
Languages for your team
The agent app is in 16 languages: English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Filipino and Urdu (right to left). Each person picks their own under Your account › Preferences, and the choice follows them across browsers. Two agents in the same workspace can work in German and Japanese side by side.
Languages for your customers
What customers see is set separately from what agents see:
- The workspace language (
general.locale) is used for what Kommio writes to customers on its own: survey emails, the public survey page and similar messages. - The website chat speaks the visitor’s browser language among the 16, or the language you set with
data-localeon the script tag. Proactive openers can carry a translation per language, and the chat picks the visitor’s. - Telegram sends the language of the customer’s app. Kommio maps it to one of the 16 and stores it as the conversation’s and the contact’s
languageattribute, where rules and flows can branch on it and the AI agent answers in it. An agent’s value is never overwritten. - Help centers hold versioned articles per language, each public, internal or AI-only. The public help center is served per language with search, and the chat’s Help tab shows it inside the widget.
Answering in the customer’s language
With AI assist turned on (off by default; on Kommio Cloud’s free AI allowance or the workspace’s own Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible key), an agent can translate a draft to the customer’s language (detected from their latest message) or to any of the 16 languages, with Undo. The optional AI agent answers customers in their language from the knowledge base, citing its source, and hands over to a person when it is unsure. What is sent to the provider, and what never is, is on the AI guide.
Reports per brand
Because each brand is a workspace, its reports are its own: first response and resolution as medians and p90, SLA attainment, satisfaction, backlog and staffing for that brand alone. Within a workspace, the inbox filter separates two sites or two numbers.
What is not there yet
As of 20 October 2026:
- Acting from All brands (assigning, replying or changing status from the cross-brand list) is planned; today a row opens the conversation in its workspace. A per-workspace filter in the list and live updates across workspaces are still open.
- Right-to-left languages such as Arabic or Hebrew are planned, together with the first right-to-left locale.
- Native review of the translations is in progress; the 16 catalogues are complete, and the review is being done language by language.
- Help centers on a custom domain on Kommio Cloud are planned; on Kommio Cloud a help center is served under the Kommio address today.
- Per-language custom labels on the chat launcher are planned; today a custom label is one text.
Frequently asked questions
Can one help desk serve several brands in Kommio?
Yes. Each brand is a workspace with its own channels, branding, help centers, roles and reports. A person who belongs to two or more workspaces gets an All brands list with the conversations of every workspace they belong to, up to 20, newest activity first.
Does the All brands inbox show data a person may not see in a brand?
No. Each workspace is read with the person's role there, and its rows are redacted by that workspace's field grants before the lists are merged. A Viewer in one brand and an Agent in another sees from each exactly what that role allows.
Can two website chats in one workspace look like different brands?
Yes. A website chat inbox can set its own brand colour and logos under Install, Appearance, Brand. Empty fields inherit the workspace brand, and one chat never mixes two brands' logos. Fonts, corners and surface colours always come from the workspace.
Which languages does Kommio support?
The agent app and the chat widget are in 16 languages: English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Filipino and Urdu (right to left). Each person picks their own app language; the workspace language is the one customers see in surveys and messages Kommio writes.
Can agents answer customers in a language they do not speak?
With AI assist turned on (on Kommio Cloud's free AI allowance or the workspace's own provider key), an agent can translate a draft to the customer's language, detected from their latest message, or to any of the 16 languages, with Undo. AI features are off until an administrator turns them on.
